The Center organization consists of a Center Advisory Board, the participating academics, and a Center Director. The Center Advisory Board is chaired by the Center Director and consists of one representative from each Member company of the Center, and additional representatives from UC San Diego appointed by the Dean of Engineering. The Center Advisory Board meets to review the mission of the Center, directions of the research program, proposals for specific research projects submitted by the participating academics, Center Director, and/or the Members, the operating plan, and Center budget, including interest levels in research projects and desired levels of funding. To the extent possible, project selection and funding input are approximately in proportion to the financial support provided by each Member. Decisions of the Center Advisory Board are by a majority vote of a quorum (2/3) of the Board. Recommendations of the Center Advisory Board are subject to concurrence by the Dean of Engineering.
The Center Director is responsible for coordinating the operation of the Center, including executing the research program, operating plan and budget. Other responsibilities of the Center Director include industrial liaison, representation of the Center to industry and government entities, and all related Center activities.
The annual membership fees are available in three tiers, which differ by the amount of research effort they can support.
